Google Pay (Direct)
Google Pay Direct setup — documentation for this wallet is still in progress.
1. What's confirmed
For Google Pay Direct, the merchant's own domain must be registered directly in the Google Pay portal — not through the Gateway's Merchant Management System (MMS), which is the case for Apple Pay. Whether Google enforces a domain limit is not yet confirmed.
2. What the official Gateway guide covers
The generic Direct Implementation fields apply to Google Pay the same as any other wallet — see Digital Wallets Overview:
paymentMethod = googlepay
paymentToken = <token from the Google Pay API>
There is no Google-specific setup guide (domain registration steps, portal walkthrough, etc.) published yet — this differs from Apple Pay, where the Gateway handles domain verification on your behalf via a Reseller-level setup.
3. Still to be confirmed
- Whether the Gateway offers a "Reseller"-style setup for Google Pay (like it does for Apple Pay), or whether every merchant must register their own Google Pay/Business Console account.
- Whether Google enforces a domain limit for merchants registering their own domain.
- A written setup guide equivalent to the Apple Pay Merchant Validation document.
Once available, this page will be rewritten to match the structure of the Apple Pay — Direct guide.
